Hard times
The signs of desperation include, but are not limited to, feeding the bun cheesecake for dinner to which he turns up his nose.

That's gotta be frustrating. Especially when it sounds like he's happy and aside from the weight, healthy.

So stressful! I mean, how can you force a solid muscle to do what he doesn't want to do? I try to feed him all sorts of weird food, hoping I'll hit on the magic recipe. Who rejects cheesecake?

You may have said in a previous post, but is getting a second opinion an option?

We're taking him back for a third visit in a couple of weeks. Depending on what is said there, we may visit another doc or two.

You honestly do have my sympathy. Want to feed *me* cheescake for dinner? I promise to be enthusiastic and make up for him not eating it!

I wish I had words of advice. I know what *we* did to put weight on my son, but he was older than the Bun. He would eat youghrt by the gallon when we let him.

I would love to feed you cheesecake if it weren't all earmarked for the devil incarnate. We feed him yoghurt breakfast lunch and dinner, in drinks, anyway he'll eat it. I'd give him an IV if I thought he'd stand for it.

Why are you so eager to fatten him up? Everything I ever heard/read (and I have 3 kids) says that kids regulate their diets very well, as long as they're offered a variety of choices.

He hasn't gained weight in seven months. I know that kids self-regulate their intake, but he self-regulates all fruit and isn't get any protein and carbs. Great for the thin model types, lousy for a developing body (and brain).

Cheesecake

Isaac spits out cheescake, too.

And I make damned good cheescake!

Oh, the humanity.

He wouldn't even eat more than two bits of his birthday cake with the made-from-scratch-with-real-butter buttercream frosting at his first birthday party. I thought maybe the similarity to bread would snare him, but no . . .

My latest thought is to bake bread with lots and lots of cheese in it, and hope he likes that . . . Might try it tomorrow once I manage to catch up on the loads and loads of copywriting I'm behind on after last week's bout of family illness.

By the way, have you tried giving him some sort of fruit smoothie with lots of cream and whey protein powder mixed in?
